About lifelines and energy absorbers

Lifelines provide a secure connection between the user and an anchor point or safety system, while an energy absorber reduces the forces generated during a fall. By gradually absorbing fall energy, the impact on both the user and the system is significantly reduced. Depending on the application, different systems are available, including single and twin lanyards, adjustable work positioning lanyards and energy absorbers for use with mobile fall arresters. Combined with a suitable harness and anchor point, lifelines, lanyards and energy absorbers form a crucial part of a complete and safe fall protection system.

ASAP LOCK – Petzl

The Petzl ASAP LOCK is a mobile fall arrester with integrated locking function for work at height. The device moves automatically along the safety line without manual intervention and locks immediately in the event of a fall, slip or uncontrolled descent.

Thanks to the integrated lock function, the user can secure the device in a fixed position on the line to limit the potential fall distance. The connecting arm ensures the system remains attached when passing intermediate anchors. The ASAP LOCK is used together with an energy absorber (ASAP’SORBER or ASAP’SORBER AXESS) for optimal fall protection.

ASAP’SORBER – Petzl

The Petzl ASAP’SORBER is a compact energy absorber specifically designed for use with the Petzl ASAP LOCK mobile fall arrester. In the event of a fall, the integrated tear-webbing absorbs the generated energy, significantly reducing impact forces on the user and increasing overall safety.

The absorber allows users to work at a safer distance from the safety line. This helps protect the line from sharp edges, tools and other obstacles while maintaining freedom of movement during work at height.

The energy absorber is protected by a durable textile pouch that helps reduce wear and contamination. Thanks to the integrated STRING element, connectors remain correctly positioned while reducing wear on the webbing. The ASAP’SORBER is available in different lengths and is suitable for users with a total weight of up to 130 kg, including equipment.

Absorbica-I

The Petzl Absorbica-I is a single-leg energy absorbing lanyard designed for safe movement at height where intermediate anchor points do not need to be passed. Suitable for users between 60 and 140 kg. 

In the event of a fall, the lanyard absorbs energy through a progressive tearing mechanism, significantly reducing the impact force on the user. Thanks to its compact design, maximum freedom of movement is maintained during work.

We offer this lanyard as a complete ready-to-use set including MGO connectors, available in 80 cm and 150 cm versions.

Absorbica-Y

The Petzl Absorbica-Y is a twin-leg energy absorbing lanyard designed for applications where the user must remain continuously connected while moving. Suitable for users between 60 and 140 kg.

Thanks to the twin-leg configuration, intermediate anchor points can be passed safely without ever disconnecting from the system. This makes the lanyard ideal for work on structures and complex installations.

Like the Absorbica-I, the system absorbs fall energy through a controlled tearing process, reducing the impact force on the user.

We supply this lanyard as a complete set including MGO connectors, available in 80 cm and 150 cm versions.

GRILLON HOOK – Petzl

The Petzl GRILLON HOOK is an adjustable work positioning lanyard for work at height. Thanks to its precisely adjustable system, the length can easily be adapted to create a stable and comfortable working position. The integrated HOOK connector allows the lanyard to be quickly connected to the side attachment points of a harness.

The GRILLON HOOK is equipped with a protective sleeve that protects the rope against wear and ensures smooth adjustment during use. The ends feature stitched terminations with protective coverings to reduce wear and keep connectors correctly positioned.

LDAD – Tractel

The Tractel LDAD 12 twin lanyard with energy absorber is a double safety lanyard designed for reliable fall protection during work at height. The lanyard connects the safety harness to an anchor point and ensures the user remains continuously secured, even while moving between different anchor points.

The integrated energy absorber reduces impact forces during a fall by gradually absorbing the generated energy. Its robust kernmantle polyamide rope offers high resistance to wear and excellent durability in demanding working environments. Thanks to the twin-leg construction, this lanyard is ideal for applications in construction, industry, structural steel work and maintenance activities where safe mobility is essential. The LDAD 12 is available in different lengths ranging from 1 m to 2 m and can be equipped with various connectors depending on the application.
