Master links

A safe and efficient lifting solution starts with attaching the load correctly. Our Gunnebo master links provide a reliable connection between chains and the lifting point, ensuring optimal stability and load capacity. Need advice on choosing the right master link? Don’t hesitate to get in touch!

About master links

Master links are an essential part of your chain sling. They ensure that lifting operations can always be carried out safely. For 3- or 4-leg slings, a master link with sub-links is used, allowing 2 chains to be connected to each lower ring. SKP offers a wide range of master links with a working load limit (WLL) of up to 125 tonnes. SKP has the perfect master link for every lifting job. The range also includes Master Grab links, which combine the convenience of a shortening hook with a master link.

The return on safety

Investing in BlokCam quickly pays for itself. At SKP, we deliberately talk about TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) because safety should not be viewed as a cost, but as a way to eliminate risks, errors and inefficiencies from operations.

At Smulders, this translates into:

  • Less downtime thanks to improved communication
  • Less damage to loads, crane equipment and infrastructure
  • Less stress and improved focus for operators and riggers
  • Faster execution times and increased productivity

At SKP, we actively help customers calculate the operational impact and return on investment of these safety improvements through a well-considered business case.

Master link, type MF

The MF master link, featuring a flat side, is manufactured from hardened and tempered fine-grain Grade 100 steel. This ensures high strength and reliable quality. The flattened side allows certain components to be swapped quickly and easily.

Each link is individually proof tested and supplied with a certificate. It is fatigue-tested for at least 20,000 cycles at 1.5 times the maximum working load limit. Every master link is marked with a product identification code (PIC) for full traceability, including quality, chain size, country of origin (SWE), GUNNEBO branding and BG/DGUV production ID (H32).

Compatibility and use:

Chain

For 3- and 4-leg assemblies, Gunnebo Industries CG, CGD, CL or CLD components must be used. For 1- and 2-leg assemblies, MF components can be used individually.

Steel wire rope

For applications with steel wire rope or synthetic lifting equipment, a safety factor of 5:1 is generally recommended.

Synthetic sling or round sling

For applications involving steel wire rope or synthetic lifting materials, a safety factor of 5:1 is typically recommended.

Master link, type MT

The MT master link is designed for use with chain or wire rope in 3- and 4-leg assemblies. It is made from hardened and tempered fine-grain Grade 100 steel. The flattened side allows components to be swapped quickly and easily.

Chain

Designed with a flat surface on sub-links up to MT-16-10.

Master link, type MFH

The Gunnebo MFH master link is specifically designed for heavy-duty lifting applications and use on crane hooks in accordance with DIN 15401 and DIN 15402. It is manufactured from hardened and tempered fine-grain Grade 100 steel. The flattened side allows components to be swapped quickly and easily.

The flattened top of the MFH master link ensures a better and more stable fit on crane hooks and reduces point loading. This helps limit wear and extends the lifespan of both the link and the hook.

Master link, type MG

The MG Master Grab master link is equipped with an integrated shortening hook. This all-in-one design not only improves cost efficiency, but also enables faster and safer operations. The design prevents the chain from being shortened in a way that is unsafe. The MG master link is made from hardened and tempered fine-grain Grade 100 steel. This ensures high strength and reliable quality.

Each master link is individually proof tested and supplied with a certificate. It is also marked with a product identification code (PIC) for full traceability, including quality, chain size, country of origin (SWE), GUNNEBO branding and BG/DGUV production ID (H32).
