Back to Lifting Equipment

BlokCam

The new BlokCam camera system is designed to improve safety on site. It allows operators to visually monitor the load during lifting operations in situations where this was previously impossible. Keeping the load visible at all times during lifting contributes to a safer working environment for everyone on site.

What is the BlokCam camera system?

The BlokCam system from Crosby is an advanced camera system that can be mounted on a crane block or at the end of the boom. It gives operators "eyes" under the hook. This bird’s-eye view ensures continuous visibility of the load being lifted.

The video feed is transmitted wirelessly through an antenna system to a screen inside the operator cabin. This provides the operator with an unobstructed live audio and video feed of the area around the load.

How does the BlokCam camera system work?

The BlokCam system consists of three main components: Sensor, Repeater and Display. The sensor captures live audio and video footage and sends it to the transmitter. The signal is then relayed to a repeater mounted on the jib, boom or cabin. The battery powers both the sensor and transmitter, while all components are mounted magnetically for easy installation.

The repeater receives the wireless signal from the transmitter and forwards it to a display screen in the cabin. The position and configuration of the repeater depend on the type of crane being used.

The live audio and video feed is then processed and displayed in real time on the cabin screen, allowing the operator to see everything happening beneath the camera.

Benefits of the BlokCam camera system

A large percentage of crane-related injuries are caused by uncontrolled loads striking people near the hook. This is one of the most dangerous areas on a worksite and a common source of serious accidents. With BlokCam, operators can clearly see what is happening in that zone, allowing them to make corrections in time and prevent incidents.

Reducing collisions

Modern jobsites are becoming increasingly crowded. Crane operators are often required to position loads in tighter and more restricted spaces than ever before.

When BlokCam is mounted on the crane block, operators can react immediately and make adjustments to help prevent accidents. This creates a safer and more productive work environment.

Improved communication

Operators now have visibility directly at hook level, giving them a detailed view of both the load and its immediate surroundings.

Reducing blind lifts

Many accidents beneath the hook occur in situations where the operator relies entirely on radio communication. Communication delays or failures can happen for various reasons, increasing the risk of incidents. BlokCam reduces blind lifting operations by providing operators with live video footage and the ability to both see and hear what is happening beneath the hook and around the load.

Productivity

With a close-up view of the load and the surrounding environment, operators gain greater situational awareness. This improves speed and accuracy in every lifting scenario. As a result, lifting operations become more efficient and tasks can be completed faster. This not only reduces labour time, but also allows equipment to be used in a more controlled and efficient manner.

With BlokCam installed, the combined benefits of improved communication and enhanced safety contribute directly to higher efficiency and increased productivity. By reducing blind lifting operations and limiting the number of corrections and overload situations, you will see a significant improvement in the overall efficiency of lifting operations.
