Fall arrest devices

Fall arrest devices protect users when working at height by immediately detecting and blocking a fall. The Tractel Blocfor range is known for its reliability, ease of use and excellent freedom of movement during work. Thanks to the automatic retracting mechanism, the lifeline always remains under light tension, creating a comfortable and safe working situation on roofs, structures and industrial installations.

About Blocfor

Blocfor fall arrest devices from Tractel operate using an automatically retractable lifeline system. As the user moves, the webbing or steel cable extends and retracts smoothly. In the event of sudden acceleration, such as during a fall, the internal braking mechanism locks immediately, significantly reducing fall distance.

Many Blocfor models are equipped with ESD (Energy System Dissipator) technology, which absorbs the energy generated during a fall and reduces the forces exerted on the user’s body. Depending on the application, the devices are available with webbing or steel cable, as well as in different lengths suitable for both vertical and horizontal use.

Blocfor 1.8A ESD – M47-M51

The Blocfor 1.8A ESD is a compact and lightweight self-retracting lifeline with automatic locking function, designed for safe work at height. The device is equipped with a 1.8 m webbing lifeline and ESD (Energy System Dissipater) technology that can arrest a fall even when the webbing is fully extended.

Thanks to the flexible retracting system, users can move freely without sudden resistance, while the device automatically locks within less than 10 cm in the event of a fall to minimise fall distance. Maximum user capacity is 150 kg. M47 connector to harness – M51 connector to anchor point

Typical applications:

  • Roofing and maintenance work at height
  • Industrial and construction environments
  • Work platforms and industrial installations

Blocfor 1.8A EVO ESD – M47-M51

The Blocfor 1.8A EVO ESD is an improved generation of fall arrest devices featuring a stronger and more flexible retracting system. The device provides greater freedom of movement while locking instantly in the event of a fall to reduce fall distance. The fall arrest device is attached to the anchor point and the webbing lifeline with connector is attached to the harness. The device itself remains fixed to the structure and does not move together with the user.

This innovative device is equipped with the new ESD (Extremity System Dissipator) technology, which ensures that the impact forces on the user remain below 600 daN, even if the full 1.8 m webbing length is deployed during a fall. The system also supports fall factor 2 applications, allowing more flexible work situations where the anchor point is positioned at foot level.

Its wider and stronger webbing, combined with a robust polyamide housing, provides additional durability in demanding working environments. Maximum user capacity is 150 kg.

Typical applications:

  • Industrial installations
  • Construction and maintenance work
  • Roofing and façade work
  • Work situations where the anchor point is above or beside the user

Blocfor 6 ESD – M47-M10

The Blocfor 6 ESD is a self-retracting lifeline with an extended working length of 6 metres, making it ideal for applications that require greater freedom of movement. This innovative device is equipped with the latest ESD (Extremity System Dissipator) technology, which ensures that impact forces on the user remain below 600 daN, even when the full 6 m webbing length is deployed during a fall.

Typical applications:

  • Work at height requiring a greater working range
  • Industrial installations
  • Assembly and maintenance work

Blocfor 10 ESD – M47-M10

The Blocfor 10 ESD is a self-retracting lifeline with an extended working length of 10 metres, making it ideal for applications that require greater freedom of movement. This innovative device is equipped with the latest ESD (Extremity System Dissipator) technology, which ensures that impact forces on the user remain below 600 daN, even when the full 10 m webbing length is deployed during a fall.

Typical applications:

  • Large industrial installations
  • Work at height requiring extended fall protection
  • Maintenance of structures and installations

Blocfor 1.8B DUO EVO ESD – M47-M51

The Blocfor 1.8B DUO EVO ESD is a twin self-retracting lifeline designed for use with a double safety system. This allows users to remain continuously secured while moving between anchor points.

With this system, one connector remains attached to the structure at all times. When passing an obstacle or moving to another anchor point, the second connector can be attached before disconnecting the first one. This ensures the user always remains secured during movement.

This innovative device is equipped with the new ESD (Extremity System Dissipator) technology, which ensures that the impact forces on the user remain below 600 daN, even if the full 1.8 m webbing length is deployed during a fall.

Typical applications:

  • Maintenance work
  • Climbing masts and pylons

Blocfor 20 & 30 ESD fall arrest devices

The Tractel Blocfor 20 and 30 are high-performance self-retracting lifelines with ESD technology, designed for maximum safety during work at height. Thanks to their robust construction and advanced technology, these devices are suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications, including work on flat roofs and edges.

The integrated ESD (Energy System Dissipater) technology limits impact forces during a fall, even when the cable is fully extended. In addition, these devices are suitable for use on edges with a minimum edge radius of 0.5 mm, in accordance with applicable standards.

The Blocfor 20 and 30 can be used vertically or at angles up to 20°, and also perform perfectly in horizontal applications without requiring an additional lifeline between the device and the harness. Available in 18 m and 30 m lengths.

Typical applications:

  • Work on flat roofs
  • Maintenance work at height (HVAC systems, installations, solar panels)
  • Use along roof edges and steel structures
  • Industrial maintenance and inspections
  • Work involving horizontal movement (horizontal lifeline systems)

Blocfor 20R & 30R self-retracting lifelines with rescue winch

The Tractel Blocfor 20R and 30R combine a self-retracting lifeline with an integrated rescue winch, providing not only fall protection but also fast and safe evacuation capabilities.

Under normal conditions, these devices function as standard self-retracting lifelines. After a fall, the integrated winch can easily be activated to lower or raise the user in a controlled manner, in accordance with EN 1496.

Like the standard models, these devices are equipped with ESD technology, limiting the impact force to a maximum of 600 daN, and feature an integrated fall indicator.

Typical applications:

  • Working in confined spaces (pits, tanks, sewers)
  • Access through manholes or shafts
  • Vertical access systems
  • Maintenance work where users cannot evacuate independently
  • High-risk industrial environments
