What are automatic hooks?

Automatic hooks can be operated remotely, without the need for physical contact. From a distance, you can open the hook, attach the load and close the hook again. The load is attached using a clever system: a magnet inside the hook housing creates an attractive force on, for example, a metal master link or steel wire rope.

Elebia’s radio-controlled hooks are equipped with a unique magnetic system featuring 32 permanent neodymium magnets. This allows components such as a master link to be positioned automatically, without needing to reorient the hook. Dit basisonderdeel, dat aanwezig is in al de Elebia haken, maakt het mogelijk om ladingen op afstand aan te slaan.

Protective cover

The optional protective cover, or bumper, for automatic hooks acts as an effective shock absorber, protecting the safety hooks from impact.

  • The new evo2 bumpers, designed to protect crane hooks from impact, are now also equipped with an LED status indicator. This shows the hook’s status at all times using a clear four-colour code, visible from the operator’s position.
  • Protects both the hook and your load from scratches and daily wear and tear.
  • Protects workers in the event of a collision.
  • Extends the product’s lifespan.
  • Reduces maintenance costs.

Load cells

Elebia automatic hooks can be fitted with an integrated load cell. This load cell is accurate, reliable, compact and fully built into the safety hook. It is recommended for preventing overload and for measuring loads. Load cells can also be retrofitted to older Elebia hook models.

This intelligent addition is an essential safety feature for crane operators, helping to prevent accidents and injuries. By ensuring that the crane is operated within safe load limits, the risk of overloading and tipping is reduced, helping to prevent accidents that could result in injury or even death.

In addition, the load cell improves productivity by enabling operators to make faster and more accurate decisions while handling the load. With real-time load data, the operator can quickly adjust the crane’s position and load, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency.

Another advantage is that the load cell provides valuable data for maintenance and repairs. The collected data can be analysed to identify trends and usage patterns, enabling proactive maintenance, reducing downtime and improving safety.

In short, load measurement is a crucial safety tool for crane operators, whether using mobile cranes or tower cranes. It helps prevent overload and tipping, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.

When combined with the eMAX radio remote control, the load cell turns Elebia crane hooks into a precise weighing system with advanced features. The eMAX remote provides the operator with real-time information about the hook’s status. The operator knows when the hook is in position even when it is not directly visible. Up to 20 hooks can be controlled simultaneously with a single remote. In addition to real-time data, the system can generate log reports for each lifting job, offering insights into productivity and recording any incidents or interruptions.
