About SKP - History About SKP - History
Pictures: History

SKP was founded in 1975 when Paul Put noticed the demand for a supplier on the steel cable market in Limburg. As a purchaser he did everything in his power to quickly find a suitable steel cable in crisis situations. Under the name StaaldraadKabels Put he started as a sole trader on the Kempische Steenweg in Hasselt with as mission: the fast and professional supply of steel wire rope to Limburg companies. Three years later he realised that the location in Hasselt had become too small and he moved to Koersel. Ten years later he was compelled to move again, also because of a lack of space. Because the range was extended with all sorts of attachment materials and after moving into the construction of custom-made hoisting constructions, SKP starting working in two different workshops.

The situation again became too restrictive, so in 1991 brand-new company premises were brought to Beringen to operate from there. In 1994 son Tom Put joined the business and took responsibility for sales. When in 1995 the CE declaration of conformity became prescribed by law, SKP nv saw its own operational strategy confirmed in official written laws. SKP nv has indeed only been supplying double tested material since time immemorial. Carefully selected and 100% reliable manufacturers such as SKP nv itself, test their material according to CE standards so each user is certain of safe and reliable equipment. Services supplied by SKP nv are also offered according to strict standards and procedures, as demonstrated by the ISO 9001:2000 and VGS certificates.

In 2005 the product range was yet again expanded. In view of the link between steel wire rope and the enormous demand for lifelines, SKP nv decided to also concentrate on fall arrest equipment. The range goes from temporary to permanent lifelines, harnesses and shock absorbing devices.

Anno 2007 space was again found to be in short supply and the warehouse capacity was doubled.
